Monday, January 13th 2003- "Start Menu" replacement, in OS X. By: Sam Novak Anybody using a mac knows how frustrating it is to open apps. We all have our own ways of doing it whether its through the dock or shortcuts. But this application tops all of them, through speed, accuracy and style. The app is called LaunchBar from the Objective Development group. Its quite simple. LaunchBar indexes all you apps and whatever files or bookmarks you want when you start up, and all you need to remember s a simple key combo. Here's an Example, After it has indexed your files, press CMD+ Space Bar, the LaunchBar Menu should pop down. Without even looking, type the first couple letters of the app you want. For example you can type "itu" for iTunes, or "ie" for Internet Explorer, or even "word" for Microsoft Word. Its really very simple. Eventually Launchbar will notice the apps you tend to launch more, and from there you can type even less. This is fast simple and easy. Download it. This ones a keeper. |
